Netgear launches the new N300 DGN2200M Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router with 3G backup. Basically, Netgear combines DSL modem, wireless router and 3G router into a single device. The DGN2200M packs a full featured wireless-N router with integrated ADSL2+ modem as well as backup option to connect to a 3G mobile network, via USB 3G modem, in case of DSL outage.
The N300 DGN2200M has four Etherner LAN ports and supports WPA/WPA2—PSK, WEP and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Thanks to 3G backup support, users can also connect to 3G network and create WiFi hotspot. The modem router with with major DSL and mobile ISPs and 3G USB modems. It supports SPI, VPN pass through, DoS protection and OpenDNS filtering and security.
The Netgear DGN2200M is priced at $179.99.

Huawei announced at the MWC 2011 two new Android devices, the IDEOS X3 smartphone and the IDEOS S7 Slim tablet. The X3 is smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with a 3.2-inch touchscreen and a 3.2 Megapixel camera. The S7 Slim, obvioulsy slimlined version of the S7, gets a 7-inch touchscreen and offers HDMI output.

Both IDEOS X3 and IDEOS S7 Slim support Bluetooth and WiFi. The former will be available in Japan via Softbank Mobile in Spring and the latter in April. Huawei will also release in Q2 the HiLink USB stick for automatic, hassle-free Internet connection anywhere, anytime, and the Mobile WiFi Smart Pro wireless modem with intelligent routing.

The demo unit is running Android 2.2 and ViewSonic is going to ship the phone with latest version Android when it is launched.

Kingston announced two new portable USB data security solutions, the DataTraveler 4000 (DT4000) and the DataTraveler Vault – Privacy Managed (DTVPM) secure USB flash drives. The DT4000 is a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified (for the entire cryptographic module) USB flash drive with 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption in CBC mode. The drive locks down after 10 intrusion attempts and encryption key is destroyed.

Along with Desire S, Incredible S, Wildfire S smartphones and two Facebook phones, HTC also introduces the FLYER 7-inch Android tablet. Unlike the Motorola XOOM, LG G-Slate/Optimus Pad, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that use Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, the FLYER uses Android 2.4 with the tablet-optimized HTC Sense UI. The 7-inch tablet also includes the HTC Scribe technology and a magic pen that make it easy and natural to take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or even write on a web page or photo.

The HTC FLYER also features HTC Watch video download service and the OnLive cloud-based gaming service. Powered by a 1.5GHz processor, the FLYER comes with 1GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. It features a 7-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera, a microSD card slot. The device has an aluminum unibody design.
As for connectivity, the HTC FLYER supports Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, WiFi 802.11b/g/n and quad-band GSM/EDGE and 3G/HSPA mobile networks. HTC will release the device in Q2 2011.

While INQ’s Cloud Touch and Cloud Q are the very first Facebook-focused smartphones with a social homescreen, HTC’s newly announced ChaCha and Salsa take a step further by offering one-touch Facebook access with a dedicated Facebook button for one-touch access to the key functions of the Facebook service that are integrated throughout the HTC Sense experience. Both phones run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.

The Facebook button on HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa is context-aware, gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook. For example, when you are viewing a photo and you want to share the photo with friends, you can simply press the Facebook button and the photo will be uploaded to facebook instantly. Or let your friends know what song you’re listening to by pressing the button while listening to music on the phone. The track is automatically identified and shared on Facebook.

The ChaCha and Salsa are boosted by 600MHz processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB RAM. They come with a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. The ChaCha will have a 2.6-inch 480×320 touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard, while the Salsa gets a 3.4-inch 480×320 touchscreen. Both phones support GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi and are equipped with g-sensor, digital compass, proximity sensor, light sensor, 3.5mm jack, micro USB connector and a microSD memory card slot.
HTC ChaCha and Salsa work with quad-band GSM/EDGE and WCDMA/HSPA 3G networks. They will be released in Q2 and will be available in the US market from AT&T.

At the MWC last year, HTC brought us the HTC Desire, this year at the MWC 2011, HTC announced the new Desire S Android phone.  Compare to the Desire, the new Desire S has no really big changes. HTC gives it a new all-black sleek unibody design with a premium aluminum finish, and bumps the internal storage to 1.1GB and RAM to 768MB. HTC also adds 720p HD video recording capability and a front camera for video chat.  Physical buttons are also replaced by touch-sensitive buttons.

The Desire S is powered by a Qualcomm SnapDragon MSM8255 1GHz processor. It features a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash, internal GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi connectivity. The phone has micro USB port, a 3.5mm stereo jack and a microSD card slot. It supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and HSPA/WCDMA networks.
HTC will release the Desire S in Q2 2011. It will come loaded with Android 2.4 with HTC Sense UI.

In addition to two 4G Mobile Hotspots, Sierra Wireless also brings two new 4G USB modems, the AirCard 319U and AirCard 320U supporting Dual-Carrier HSPA+ (DC-HSPA+) and LTE networks, respectively. Both of them use USB interface. The former has a swivel hinge design that allows the body of the modem to be tucked up against the side of the notebook and protects it from being damaged by accidental bumps, while the latter comes with an articulating and pivoting hinge that works with the widest possible variety of USB port placements.

The AirCard 319U supports Dual-Carrier HSPA+ and offers download speeds of up to 42 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps. The AirCard 312U LTE USB modem, on the other hand, provides download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. Both modems can seamlessly switch to earlier network technology standards, including HSPA+ and its precursors, UMTS, EDGE, GSM, and GPRS; and the AirCard 320U supports DC-HSPA+ as well.
The Sierra Wireless AirCard 319U will be released on the Telus network in Canada in March and the AirCard 320U will be available in Q2.

Sierra Wireless announced to new 4G mobile hotspots, the AirCard 753S for Dual Carrier HSPA+ and the AirCard 754S for LTE network. At about the size of a deck of cards, both AirCard hotspots are lightweight and come with an LCD display to provide all the necessary information, including WiFi access information, battery life, network signal strength, and the number of devices connected. They also offer audible alerts and an intuitive web interface.

The AirCard 753S supports downlink speeds of up to 42 Mbps (megabits per second) and uplink speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps on a DC-HSPA+ network while the AirCard 754S offers downlink speeds of up to 100 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 50 Mbps when operating on an LTE network. They can share 4G connection to up to five WiFi devices. These hotspots also supports 3G UMTS and 2G EDGE networks and will switch 2G/3G when 4G network coverage is not available. In fact, the AirCard 754S also support HSPA+ network.

Other than new flagship Galaxy S II smartphone and the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, Samsung also brings the Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and WiFi 5.0 Android-based portable media players to the MWC 2011, to compete with Apple’s iPod touch. The former looks just like the original Galaxy S and has 4-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen while the latter is like an enlarged Galaxy S II with a 5-inch large touchscreen display with 800×480 resolution.
